How to Get an ACES Datalog CSV
EfiTracer reads the CSV datalog file your ACES system records. It does not need your tune file, calibration backup, or handheld screenshots.

Use the ACES Advanced Tuning Software
- 1 Connect the laptop to the ECU with the ACES USB-to-CAN cable.
- 2 Open the ACES Advanced Tuning Software and connect to the ECU.
- 3 Click Start Log before the event you want to capture.
- 4 Run the test: idle, cruise, tip-in, or a short pull only when it is safe.

Click Stop Log, then name and save the file as a
.csv. - 6 Upload the CSV to EfiTracer.
Alternate path
Capture a log with the handheld
ACES handhelds include a Logging menu for recording ECU data. Record the log there, save it, then use the handheld's Files area or USB connection to move the saved datalog to a computer or USB stick. The exact copy steps can vary by handheld and firmware version.
Shop note
If you can choose the file format, choose .csv. If the handheld gives
you another file type, open it with the ACES software first and export a CSV before
uploading.
What to capture
Idle
30 seconds at warm idle, no extra accessories if possible.
Cruise
A steady light-throttle section on a safe road or dyno.
Tip-in
Several smooth throttle transitions from idle or cruise.
Decel
A few lift-off and coast-down events after the engine is warm.
For wide-open throttle, keep it short and only do it in a safe place. Start the log a few seconds before the event so the report has context.
If the upload does not work
- Wrong file type: EfiTracer needs the datalog CSV, not a tune file or calibration backup.
- Missing channels: make sure the log includes RPM, MAP, Actual AFR, and Target AFR.
- Too little data: capture the problem long enough for the report to judge it.
- No ECU connection: check key-on power, the USB-to-CAN cable LEDs, drivers, and USB port.
